Ships worldwide from California, USA The hamsa hand is an ancient Middle Eastern amulet that protects against the “evil eye.” It is a protective sign and brings its owner happiness, luck, health, good energy, and good fortune. Five (hamesh in Hebrew) represents the five books of the Torah for Jews. In the Jewish religion, the Jewish hamsa hand also symbolizes the Hand of Miriam, the sister of Moses and Aaron. Although the hamsa hand has been symbolic in Islam and Judaism for centuries, archaeological digs provide evidence that the hamsa predates these religions and originated with the Phoenicians.
